Multi-channel NIR spectrometer for sorting processes
Materials identification and analytical evaluation
Our multiplexed process spectrometers were developed for integration into sorting systems and have been used successfully for years in plastics and waste paper recycling. Technically, the devices are near-infrared spectrometers, capable of scanning up to 64 measuring tracks extremely fast. By doing so, they detect materials directly on the belt. The modular measuring tracks enable simultaneous detection even across several conveyor belts (see Fig. 2).
The near-infrared line spectrometer combined with an optical multiplexer has a high spectral resolution of 4 nm/pixel, which allows for the evaluation of even the smallest spectral differences. This is required, e.g., for the identification of plastic blends or material agglomerates (mixed spectra).
An additional integrated colour sensor enables you to complement material recognition with colour classification. This can be used, for example, to separate transparent plastics (PET) or to detect brown cardboard in paper identification processes.

Applications KUSTA1.9MPL-24V
The NIR spectrometer is best suited for plastics and paper recycling from a materials size of approximately 30 mm. Applications include:
■ Household plastics
■ Technical plastics (electronics)
■ Waste paper
■ Electronic waste (printed circuit boards)
Applications KUSTA2.2MPL-24V
The NIR spectrometer is ideally suited for construction waste sorting, textile recycling from a material size of 30 mm, and for feasibility studies.
Due to the extensive available wavelength range, this system is also suitable for:
■ use in pilot plants or
■ in mobile test stands within the scope of process-related NIR feasibility studies.
